William a. white, III phd

William “Bill” White, III is an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at UC Berkeley where he specializes in historical archaeology of the African Diaspora, historic preservation, and community based research. For over a decade, Bill worked for environmental companies that took him to archaeology sites across the American West. He transitioned to academia while attending the University of Arizona where he worked for the Bureau of Applied Research in Anthropology (BARA) as an archaeologist, graduating with a PhD in 2017. At UC Berkeley, Bill teaches historical archaeology, heritage conservation, and African Diaspora archaeology. His archaeological work also seeks to reach larger audiences by using blogging, vlogging, podcasting, and online publishing. You can follow his work at www.archaeologyheritagelab.org

Celia diaz

Celia Diaz is a graduate student at UC Berkeley pursuing her Master in Design where she specializes in Human Computer Interaction through the User Experience Design Process. Her work with lab 55 focuses on digital publications using Adobe Creative Suite Applications. Her passion in design has led her to create visual platforms using User Experience methodologies to better connect professionals in the field of archaeology to the Berkeley communities to commemorate the historic neighborhood that existed before the park. Celia is looking to pursue her Masters in Human Centered Design & Engineering upon her graduation in Fall 2021. You can view more of her work in her digital portfolio or on LinkedIn.

Samantha Richey

Sam Richey is a graduate of UC Berkeley with a BA in Anthropology where she specialized in digital heritage, historical archaeology, museum studies, and osteology. She spent time working with the Museum of Vertebrate Zoology in the mammal collection, and has over a year of experience in the Registration department of the Phoebe A. Hearst Museum of Anthropology. Her work with lab 55 focuses on digital heritage preservation through the creation of a 3D model of a historic Berkeley home, as well as 3D maps, using Photoshop and Blender. Sam is looking to pursue a Ph.D. in Anthropology with a focus in combining historical archaeology with digital heritage techniques to facilitate community and public engagement with archaeology. Alexandra Perkins

Alexandra Perkins is a senior at UC Berkeley, majoring in Anthropology. She specializes in the intersections between technology and heritage conservation. In the past, Alex has worked on mapping California archaeology sites, doing GIS analysis for the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, and building a 3D modeling workflow for the Hearst Museum of Anthropology. More recently she has led a team of undergraduates in the creation of 3D models for various campus research institutions. She is currently working on her senior honors thesis on modeling the loss of archaeological sites in California.
